Bogota Mejora Tu Cuota Opens September Repair Credit Path For 500 Homes
Bogota's housing agenda now includes a repair-credit payment subsidy, with the first 500 Mejora Tu Cuota places scheduled for September and a direct effect on households improving homes they already occupy.
The New Subsidy Is Payment Based
The city announced support of up to 231,000 pesos per month for 36 months, covering as much as 35 percent of a formal home-improvement credit payment. That design matters because it helps existing owners finance safer and more adequate housing rather than only subsidising new purchases.
Eligibility Narrows The Market
The benefit is aimed at prioritised Bogota households with income up to four minimum monthly wages and is tied to the official Mejora Tu Casa route. The first call has 500 places, so the immediate market effect will be targeted, not citywide.
Existing Housing Quality Becomes Investable
For districts with older self-built or under-maintained homes, access to formal improvement credit can change value by making repairs documented, financed and more likely to meet habitability standards. Contractors and lenders will still need evidence that works are eligible and properly completed.
Buyer Checks
Families should use only official Habitat channels, confirm programme eligibility, credit terms, improvement scope, contractor obligations, title or possession documents and total payment after subsidy. Developers should not confuse this repair programme with new-home purchase assistance.
Outlook
Mejora Tu Cuota can improve conditions for a small but important group of Bogota households. Its market value will depend on whether September applications become completed repairs rather than only approved benefits.
